Overview
The Font Mapping Panel gives you granular control over font substitution. Instead of replacing every text layer with a single font, you can create rules to map specific source fonts to specific target fonts.
Use Case
Your project might use multiple fonts (e.g., a bold font for headlines and a regular font for body text). When translating to a language like Chinese, you need to replace both with a Chinese-compatible font, but you want to maintain the Bold/Regular distinction.
Creating Mappings
- Open the Font Mapping Panel.
- Create a new Font Map Set (or edit an existing one).
- Add Mapping:
- Source Font: Select the font used in your original composition (e.g., "Helvetica-Bold").
- Target Font: Select the font to replace it with (e.g., "NotoSansSC-Bold").
- Save the map.
Applying Font Maps
To use a font map, go to the Presets Panel and assign the Font Map to a specific language preset. When you run that version, AE Sheets will check every text layer: if its font matches a "Source Font" in the map, it will be replaced with the "Target Font".
